The deluge system can quickly flood your property in the case of a fire. This is especially effective (and recommended) for premises containing flammable products or substances. The always-open sprinkler head is activated by an external smoke or heat sensor which, like dry sprinklers, prompts the pipes to fill with water and disperse through all sprinkler heads.

Deluge systems protect extra hazardous properties (usually industrial) such as aircraft hangars, power plants and chemical processing & storage facilities. These properties may contain large hazards such as low flash point flammable liquids, and therefore require a significant high-velocity application of water to the hazard area to prevent fire spread.
As the deluge sprinkler system's heads are always open, the specially designed valve that comes with these systems prevents the water from flowing until heat, smoke, or flame detection is activated, at which point water flows through the piping and out of the discharge devices.
With a deluge fire system, standard application is to have water flow into and immediately out of the pipes, flooding the area. Another option available to you is to use a foam concentrate that mixes with the water to form a foam solution, which creates a protective blanket of foam that stops a fire from developing any further. Both options are advantageous for different situations, and the presence of different combustible liquids.
If you require the installation, modification or repair of a deluge sprinkler system, contact us to organise a site visit and we can advise you on an appropriate solution.
